In the form of an actual map of Paris, Martin Parr invites us to follow him through the city.
Over the course of three years, at the request of the European House of Photography (EHP), Martin Parr turned his lens toward Parisians and Paris itself—photographing the Champs-Élysées, tourists, Bastille Day celebrations, fashion shows, the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, Paris Plages, museums, art fairs, the Agricultural Show, and more.
The result is a collection of around forty previously unpublished images, along with a few essential earlier shots, that together capture the spirit of everyday life and deliver a vivid slice of Parisian atmosphere. All photographs are in color.
Martin Parr (born 1952) is an iconic British photographer and a Magnum Photos member since 1994, renowned for his satirical take on contemporary societies. His distinctive style—saturated colors, harsh flash, and tight framing—humorously exposes social clichés and the contradictions of global consumer culture. Major projects such as The Last Resort (1986), focusing on British mass tourism, and Luxury (2009), critiquing excess and affluence, have cemented his reputation as a sharp, mischievous observer of our times.
